Traditionally an application programming interface (API) is a connection between computers or between computer programs.
It is a type of software interface, that offers a service to other pieces of software…in other words, a document or standard that details how to build or use a connection of devices (user-interface) aka known as an API specification.
A computer system that meets this standard is said to implement or expose an API.
The term API may refer either to the specification OR to the implementation.
In stark contrast to a UI (user-interface), an API (application programming interface) connects a computer to a person.
In other words, an application programming interface allows for inter-operability and connection between many devices and software with each other.
It is not intended to be used directly by a person (the end-user) other than a computer programmer who is incorporating it into the software.
An API is often made up of different parts which act as tools or services that are available to the programmer. A program or a programmer that uses one of these parts is said to call that portion of the API.
The calls that make up the API are also known as subroutines, methods, requests, or endpoints. An API specification defines these calls, meaning that it explains how to use or implement them.
One main purpose of APIs is for cybersecurity and privacy: to withhold certain internal details of how a system’s functionality works, exposing only those parts a programmer will find useful and keeping consistent (regardless if the internal details later change) or not.

In essence, I’ve attempted to hypothesize a new custom-version API Apidai Network that is designed for a particular pair of systems, or it may be a shared standard allowing interoperability among many systems (or servers).
The key signature that differentiates my method from traditional #programming #application #interfacedesign is the presence of a (Decentralized) third-party intermediary, fundamentally changing the entire query / data requisition process as we know it. #datascience #dataanalysis #database #framework It could be done…in theory.
However, I’m under no illusions it would take ALOT of work. This is just a rough draft/sketch I whipped up.
I welcome any and all commentary (both constructive) and otherwise.
